I spoke too soon. It looks like there is a strange issue with featured images going missing after a post is updated. Going to try to get to the bottom of it with this post.

Edit 1: First write worked without a hitch. Lets see if the issue is with the edit syncing

Edit 2: Found out I was deleting the staged images but not the live versions of them. Not sure if my fix for that will also fix the missing featured image. Giving it a go

Edit 3: Testing to ensure featured image remains visible on unsynced posts
